HILARY GARNER, M.A.
Appointed to President of Garner Enterprises in April 2015, Hilary has over 15 years of direct transportation and supply chain logistics experience.
Garner Enterprises is a third-party family owned freight forwarding and transportation logistics business based in Toronto, Ontario. As a transportation solutions provider the company tailors multi-modal, rail-road-water solutions. The company’s platform enables collaboration of multiple vendors for the benefit of their clients, automating a process in the background for seamless moves that produce tangible savings. Hilary’s exposure to the industry has provided many insights across interchange points where goods change hands.
This cross-section of exposure provided insights into pain points throughout the supply chain and personal dealings with Garner Enterprises’ clients and vendors led Hilary to innovate. She founded Garner Green CO2 with the express interest in creating products and services that would enable palletized freight shippers and handlers to improve on their time, capacity and cost needs – all while stabilizing security concerns. Her patented innovation enables warehouses, truck carriers, drayage companies, intermodal rail operators, and port operations nimble fuel efficient solutions with a competitive advantage.
Her academic career began at Concordia University in Montréal, Quebec focusing on world history and South East Asian Studies, earning her undergraduate degree in 1998. Shortly after the signing of the Good Friday Agreement (1998) bringing peace to Northern Ireland, Hilary accepted a two-year long posting with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Belfast. In 2007, she earned a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Negotiations from the University of Sydney, Australia. She then returned to Canada and joined Garner Enterprises. Well-traveled, and keen to expand her knowledge of international affairs, she has explored more than twenty-five countries, stopping in four to pursue both work and study. Today, Toronto is home base.
In 2012 she earned a Diploma from York University in Alternative Dispute Resolution, an evolving set of skills that she applies daily in her role as chief executive.
These global experiences credit her excellent ability to manage client relationships – placing the client at the forefront of the agenda to provide comprehensive vendor relations and exceptional service.
